History of Kunisaki

Kunisaki city is a city with a population of about 30,000 located in the eastern part of the Kanto peninsula in the northeastern part of Oita prefecture. From the Nara era to the Heian era, the Kunisaki Peninsula is the place where the unique Buddhist culture of Rokugo Mt. Mountain flourished. There are still many temples and historic sites dotted, and many cultural properties are left behind. There are 33 temple sanctuaries called the Higashi Rikugo Manchi Senjutsu, these are prosperous under the influence of Usa Shrine in Usa City. On the Kunisaki Peninsula, it is known that there are many treasures peculiar to the Kanto region called the Kunisaku Tower, which can be seen frequently in temples and the like. The Buddhist and Buddhist cultural culture with God as Buddha and Buddha as God was made the most brilliant and splendid in Usa Jingu Shrine, the Kanto Peninsula, the birthplace of it.

The unique idea and philosophy of acknowledging each other's pagan culture and coexisting is said to be a unique culture that does not see examples very much in the world.

Activities aiming to certify World Heritage sites to actively preserve cultures that are proud of the world and to preserve them in future generations are being actively developed around the land of this Kanto region. In this way, Kunisaki city has a long history. By that, a lot of traditional events were born. I will also introduce about that. The first one is Yoshihiro Sukuku. It will be held on the 4th Sunday of July every year for prayer of pest control and insect control.

It is said that it began with praying for victory and rich fruit in the era of North and South morning, and it is designated as a nationally designated important intangible folk cultural asset by the entertainment which draws the genealogy of Nenbutsu dance in "Taiko Dance" which dances while drumming. A total of 49 musicians wear old-fashioned helmets and waistcoats, and a brave punching striking a drum, a whistle, a beat is unfolded for over an hour. The second one is the Keves festival. "Keves festival" is a big festival in autumn held at Iwakura Hachiman Shrine on October 14 every year.

It is the festival of the heavenly scattering scattered fires, the origin and origin are all unknown fire festival.

"Tuba" who scooped up in the ocean near the precincts wrapped in dusk gathered herself in a white chest. It also mixes with Keves and queues in the precincts, and eventually "ferns" stacked in one corner of the precincts are lighted.

The queue suddenly got disturbed, Keves was dancing, repeating the battle to try to rush into the fire that Tuba defends, finally Keves brings the stick to the fire and scatters the fire. These traditional events have been made in the history of Kunisaki city.
